Pledge the Gift of Life

Each year, the lives of thousands of people across the country are saved because someone made the choice to become an organ donor. In April, Allegheny Health Network is honored to celebrate National Donate Life Month and pay tribute to all of those who have bestowed the precious gift of life to another through organ donation. Visit AHNdonate.org to learn more and register to be an organ donor.

Allison Park Elementary School Students Participate in CGH Read-A-Thon

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Students at Allison Park Elementary School in the Chartiers Houston School District raised $1001.75 during this year's Canonsburg Hospital Read-A-Thon. The Read-A-Thon benefits the Children's Services Department.

A total of 20 students participated in the fundraiser that encourages children to read more, and at the same time, raise money for a good cause. The students read a total of 413 books.

Ryan James, a fourth grade student, was the Read-A-Thon's grand prize winner. As the student who raised the most money, Ryan received six tickets for a Washington Wild Things baseball game and a gift voucher card to be used for park purchases. All of the participants were invited to a breakfast celebration, compliments of McDonald's Restaurant in Canonsburg.
