Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: AGH helicopter study detects MRSA in all kinds of patients

A study of patients flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital showed that patients coming from a community setting were just as likely to have methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) as patients who were transported from another medical facility. According to Dr. Peter Martin, Life Flight medical director, the study disproves the common assumption that patients who are not hospitalized are less likely to develop MRSA.
