Pledge the Gift of Life

Each year, the lives of thousands of people across the country are saved because someone made the choice to become an organ donor. In April, Allegheny Health Network is honored to celebrate National Donate Life Month and pay tribute to all of those who have bestowed the precious gift of life to another through organ donation. Visit AHNdonate.org to learn more and register to be an organ donor.

AKMC Helps You Maintain Your Brain

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Natrona Heights, Pa., – Alle-Kiski Medical Center’s (AKMC) PriorityCare program will host the Alzheimer’s Association for a presentation of “Maintain Your Brain™: How to Live a Brain Healthy Lifestyle” on August 19 at 2 p.m. in the Charles W. Young Conference Center at the hospital in Harrison.

When we think about staying fit, we generally think from the neck down. But the brain plays a critical role in almost everything we do – thinking, feeling, remembering, working, playing and even sleeping. The good news is we now know there are things we can do to keep our brain healthier as we age. These steps might reduce our risk of Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia.

PriorityCare is a free membership program offered by AKMC to all adults age 55 or older. Please call 724-226-7339 to register or e-mail: kgiovann@wpahs.org.
