Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Opinion Editorial: Crisis still ahead: Even after the WPAHS rescue, a contract is needed

Seismic change is coming to health care and health insurance in Western Pennsylvania, now that Highmark and UPMC have failed to agree on a new service contract and Highmark has thrown a $475 million lifeline to the West Penn Allegheny Health System.

But nothing in this tectonic shift will hurt health insurance customers and health care patients because all the players are nonprofits that pursue a mission in which the community's well-being is paramount. Right?
