September Classes Offered At Destination Wellness

Highmark’s Personal Nutrition Coaching
Personal nutrition coaching strives to empower the individual to sustain healthy lifestyle changes by assisting them with setting goals and overcoming challenges with food selection and meal planning. This one-on-one counseling session is facilitated by a registered dietitian and is designed to address the nutritional changes needed to manage heart disease, diabetes, weight management and other health related issues. Sessions are by appointment only. There is no fee for Highmark members to participate in this program; a nominal fee for non-Highmark members. Call 724-274-5202 today for appointment/details.

Highmark’s Clear the Air: Smoking Cessation
Your health is worth one more try. This one-session, two-hour program is the step you take BEFORE deciding to quit tobacco. It empowers you to identify your reasons for quitting and gives you the tools you need to quit for good. There is no fee for Highmark members to participate in this program; a nominal fee for non-Highmark members. Call for your one-on-one session with a trained smoking cessation instructor at 724-274-5202.

BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR
5-10 p.m.
If you are a healthcare provider this is the class for you! It includes adult, child and infant CPR. Two-rescuer scenarios with bag valve mask, foreign body airway obstruction and automated external defibrillation (AED). Certification card, valid for two years, will be provided to participants after completion of skills and written testing. Fee: $50 (required student manual included). Zumba with Weight Management Program begins
11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you've got ZUMBA! Zumba is a dynamic workout system designed to be FUN and EASY TO DO! By integrating Zumba into everyday life individuals may achieve long term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exhilarating hour of calorie burning, heart racing,
muscle pumping, body energizing movements! The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Following the fun-filled 1-hour Zumba class, dietitian, Megan Klucinec will hold a weight management program to help you learn ways to be healthy all-around. This is a 12-week program that will combine exercise and nutrition lectures to help you manage and maintain your weight. This is a great way to get a head start on your New Year’s resolution! Family & Friends CPR was developed by the American Heart Association to teach the basics of CPR to people with limited or no medical training. Eat Well for Life I SM Four-Week Series

This lifestyle improvement program from Highmark is not a diet or strict weight loss program. The program is about better living. It is about making choices to feel your best every day, and having the health and energy to live an enjoyable, rewarding and high quality life. Participants will learn how to read food labels, how to shop and plan for healthy meals, understand portion control and well-balanced meals, as well as sampling some great tasting healthy foods in a food demonstration. AARP Driver’s Safety Two-Day Course

Tune up your driving skills, and learn how to adjust to age-related driving changes. Participants will learn how to obtain insurance discounts for attending this two-day course. Fee: $14.00 per person for non-members; $12.00 per person for AARP members.

He holds board certifications from the American Board of Pediatrics, as well as the Board of Allergy and Immunology. He is also professor of pediatrics at the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia.

CHF is a condition in which the heart cannot pump enough blood to the body’s other organs. The “failing” heart keeps working but not as efficiently as it should. An estimated 5.7 million Americans are living with congestive heart failure. Join Tony Napoletan, CHF nurse from Alle-Kiski Medical Center for a lecture on the causes and symptoms of congestive heart failure. Participants will also learn of the treatment options available to help a person living with CHF to have the highest quality of life.
