Pledge the Gift of Life

Each year, the lives of thousands of people across the country are saved because someone made the choice to become an organ donor. In April, Allegheny Health Network is honored to celebrate National Donate Life Month and pay tribute to all of those who have bestowed the precious gift of life to another through organ donation. Sewickley Surgeons Join Staff at AGH Suburban Campus

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Allegheny General Hospital – Suburban Campus (AGH – SC) and West Penn Allegheny Health System (WPAHS) announced today that Michael D. Felix, MD, FACS, and Geoffrey H. Wilcox, MD, FACS, both of the Surgical Associates of Sewickley, Ltd., have joined the staff at AGH-SC.

“Allegheny General’s Suburban Campus has a reputation for providing exceptional healthcare services to Pittsburgh’s northern communities and suburbs,” said Kim Sperring, vice president, AGH – SC. “Drs. Felix and Wilcox are excellent additions to our surgical staff and share our commitment to the highest standards of quality care, patient safety and satisfaction.”

As general surgeons, Drs. Felix and Wilcox are experienced in performing laparoscopic chest and peripheral vascular surgeries, implanting pacemakers, and executing a variety of procedures including, but not limited to, cholecystectomy, gastrectomy, colon resection, hernia repairs, appendectomy, Nissen Fundoplication, splenectomy, lung surgery and breast surgery.

“We pride ourselves on the scope of surgical care that we afford our patients,” said Dr. Felix. “We are what you would call ‘old-fashioned’ general surgeons who are trained in a full spectrum of surgical procedures so that we can address the diverse healthcare needs of the communities in which we practice.”

The physicians enjoy practicing in a community hospital setting, where they are able to work closely with primary care physicians, nurses and ancillary staff to effectively and efficiently care for their patients. They have also chosen to focus their entire careers in Pennsylvania exclusively.

“As products of western Pennsylvania, we are dedicated to advancing the quality of healthcare in this region,” said Dr. Wilcox. “We completed our residencies here and have more than 30 years of combined experience.”

Dr. Felix earned his Bachelor of Science degree from St. Francis College in Loretto, Penn., and his medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed his General Surgery residency at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery; is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons; and is professionally affiliated with the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Wilcox earned both his Bachelor of Science and medical degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. His internship and residency in general surgery were also completed at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also professionally affiliated with the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Wilcox is currently seeing patients at their Sewickley office, 111 Hazel Lane, Suite 100. Dr. Felix is seeing patients on the 6th floor of AGH – SC. To schedule an appointment with either physician, please call 412-741-8862.
