CGH Wins National Award For Improving Quality & Efficiency in the ED

CANONSBURG HOSPITAL WINS NATIONAL AWARD FOR IMPROVING QUALITY AND EFFICIENCY IN THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
One of six hospitals to receive T-System Client Excellence Award

Canonsburg Hospital (CGH) is one of six hospitals to receive the first annual T-System Client Excellence Award. The hospital was selected by T-System, Inc., the industry leader in clinical, business and IT solutions for hospital emergency departments (EDs), from more than 1,700 facilities nationwide. Award winners represented the facilities that most effectively partnered with T-System in 2010 to improve their quality, operational and financial results in the ED.

"The T-System aided the hospital with tracking and time-stamp reporting which then reduced the wait time a patient experiences when they walk in to the ED to see a physician from a mean of 26 minutes to a mean of 17 minutes,” stated Jonathan Landis, MD, Medical Director of the CGH Emergency Department. “We were able to decrease the overall time our patients spent in the Emergency Department, whether they were admitted or sent home. And less time in the Emergency Department results in a much more satisfying experience for those patients."

“The hospital as an entire unit worked collaboratively to develop and maintain the level of operational excellence that T-SystemEV helped to provide,” Kim Malinky, CEO of CGH said. “Key departments included the nursing staff, radiology, laboratory, environmental services, and the entire Emergency Department Staff, Physicians, and Nurses. Dr. Jonathan Landis and Beverly Mueller, Nursing Director, were essential components in the implementation and execution of the entire process to achieve operational excellence. “

Canonsburg Hospital won the T-System Client Excellence Award for Patient Throughput and Efficiency, reflecting results achieved by using T SystemEV, the nation’s leading emergency department information system (EDIS), as well as T-Sheets, the system that set the standard in ED documentation solutions.

“We’re pleased to recognize our hospital clients for helping to set the standard for improving operations and efficiency in the emergency department,” said Sunny Sanyal, CEO of T-System. “We hope that other hospitals will apply these leading practices, which ultimately will lead to better patient care.”
In recognition for its achievements, T-System will make a donation to the hospital foundation. Canonsburg Hospital also will be recognized by T-System at the American College of Emergency Physicians Scientific Assembly, a prominent healthcare industry conference, in Las Vegas, Sept. 28 – Oct. 1.
