AKMC offers Medicare Enrollment Workshop

Natrona Heights, Pa., – Alle-Kiski Medical Center’s (AKMC) PriorityCare program has partnered with the Pennsylvania Department of Aging’s APPRISE program to offer a Medicare enrollment workshop. Individual appointments are available November 10 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the Charles W. Young Conference Center at AKMC’s main campus in Natrona Heights. 

The information will help you make an informed decision about the best Medicare plan for your needs. This is an excellent resource for anyone turning 65, considering changing policies or confused by the choices.

APPRISE staff/volunteers will provide direct, in-person, one-on-one counseling regarding
• Medicare Health Plan comparisons and enrollment to assist attendees in making accurate choices for effective health care coverage
• Enrollment for various medical and prescription drug assistance programs such as: Medicaid; PACE and PACENET (a Pennsylvania prescription medication program and other available programs.
• Counselors will also be available to assist individuals in obtaining dental care and eye care within their local communities.
• Pharmacists will be available for prescription medication counseling: providing effective strategies for managing medications, and reviewing possible lower-cost alternatives for expensive medications.
• Also available will be representatives from various agencies including the Social Security Administration, the VA, and the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.
• Health Care Screenings will be available for blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose.

APPRISE is the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) for Pennsylvania’s Medicare beneficiaries. The Pennsylvania Department of Aging created APPRISE to help Pennsylvanians with Medicare understand their health insurance options and help them make sound decisions about what is best for them.
