Judy Abel, Mammography Technologist at Canonsburg General Hospital was honored with the 2009 Tradition of Caring Award in October. This award recognizes an employee that exemplifies the tradition of caring expected by Canonsburg General Hospital’s patients, physicians, fellow staff members, and the community. 

“Ms. Abel has earned the respect and trust of patients, physicians, and co-workers,” Mrs. Kim Malinky, CEO of Canonsburg General Hospital stated. “She demonstrates pride in herself, her career, and the hospital.”

The Tradition of Caring Award is given to a person that demonstrates outstanding job knowledge, performance, and communications skills, which Ms. Abel exhibits on a daily basis. “Judy exemplifies a healthcare provider who loves her job and cares about each and every patient,” Mrs. Marilyn Kovach, Director of Imaging at Canonsburg General Hospital said. “She is truly an asset.”

The award process begins with fellow employees and supervisors nominating a coworker for the award; everyone that is nominated deserves recognition. Others nominated are: Sharon Brown, Patti Carnes, Barbara Eaton, Doreen Getty, Natalie Kohler, Diane Parkinson, Helen Spagna, and Donna Sullivan.
