Continuing Nursing Education Programs

Each year, nursing departments at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital sponsor or participate in numerous continuing professional education programs.

The Western Pennsylvania Hospital is an approved provider for continuing education in nursing by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Regularly scheduled continuing education programs for West Penn Hospital nurses include the following:

Nursing Grand Rounds - held frequently throughout the year
Audioconferences and Teleconferences
Annual conferences such as "Blood in Motion" and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit / Neonatology "Annual Dinner Theatre"

In addition, West Penn Hospital's Nursing Division annually supports nurses to attend and to present at regional, state and national conferences such as the ANCC's Magnet Conference, NDNQI Conference, nurse educators' and other national nursing specialty conferences, and Greater Pittsburgh Nursing Research Conference.
