Americans are discovering that
aging doesn’t mean surrendering to
poor health and inactivity. By
consciously choosing to remain
engaged in careers, volunteer
opportunities, physical and social
activities and in making decisions
about their health care, today’s senior
adults are living fuller, healthier and
happier lives than any generation
before them.
It is an exciting time to be a senior.
Many seniors are finding that now is the
time to explore
new interests, to start a new career, to
travel or simply to relax and enjoy life.
But good health is critical to
accomplishing any of these. While
growing older can be the beginning of
an exciting new time, it can still bring on
new health challenges, as well as
exacerbate existing health problems.
Understanding and navigating the
current health care landscape can
empower seniors to remain active
members of their communities--both
now and in the future.
