The West Penn Allegheny Health System Search:

Neurosciences

The treatment of brain and nervous system diseases and disorders is an area of excellence within the West Penn Allegheny Health System that is recognized both nationally and internationally.

Our Brain Attack (stroke) program is ranked among the 100 best in America by HCIA-Sachs, a leading industry research organization. We have one of only 30 centers for the treatment of Epilepsy in the United States. The Hearing & Balance Center is one of only a handful nationally devoted exclusively to disorders affecting those functions. We were the first in the region to perform deep brain stimulation to control tremors and our program for the treatment of cranial nerve compression syndromes, such as neuralgia and other dehabilitating face pain, has received worldwide acclaim.

The system is also nationally regarded for specialized programs in cerebrovascular surgery, skull-base surgery, comprehensive spinal surgery, neuro-oncology, pain management, spine and head trauma, pediatric neurosurgery, functional neurosurgery, and back and neck pain.
