![]() Support Groups and Community Education ClassesAllegheny General Hospital Suburban Campus offers a variety of educational programs to support you in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and to help you take good care of yourself. The programs, which are presented by members of the Hospital's health care team, are designed to answer your personal questions about good health care. This community education program is designed to empower seniors to take control of their own good health. Community members are given the opportunity to discuss health topics of their own choosing with Allegheny General Hospital and AGH—Suburban Campus physicians and subject matter experts, to socialize with peers and to make new acquaintances.
Both programs are offered at no charge and are open to any interested adult in the community. Registration is required by calling Physician Access at 1-877-284-2000.
AARP Drivers Safety Course This two-part class is open to all adult drivers age 50 and over. Students learn defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road. Through interacting with one another, they find out how to safely adjust their driving to compensate for age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time.
Upon completion of this course, participants are eligible to receive a minimum 5 percent discount on their automobile insurance. Each individual over the age of 50 insured on the automobile policy must attend the class in order to receive the discount.
This is a two-day class. Participants must attend both days in order to receive the certificate for the discount. Students are charged a $10 fee to be paid in advance by check made payable to AARP to cover the cost of course materials. There are no tests.
Light refreshments will be served. Valet parking is available at the main entrance free of charge. Registration is required by calling Physician Access at 1-877-284-2000.
