Pediatric and Adolescent Care Services

For the health needs of children and adolescents as they grow, the Department of Pediatrics offers a comprehensive range of primary- and tertiary-care services in all disciplines.

Division of Ambulatory Pediatarics
Physicians in this division offer comprehensive care for general pediatric and adolescent problems, and evaluation and management of acute illnesses. Patients receive routine medical care, including immunizations and screenings for lead poisoning, hypertension and tuberculosis. Gynecology consultations, including family planning services, also are available to patients ages 12 to 18.

Division of Inpatient Pediatrics
Through this division, the hospital provides a wide range of inpatient pediatric services. A dedicated team of nurses, pediatricians and support staff work in the unit, where they treat a spectrum of surgical and medical illnesses in children. A short-term observation unit is also available.

Division of Pediatric Critical Care
In 1993, the hospital opened the Pediatric Critical Care Unit for critically ill children, from infancy through age 17. A specialized staff of pediatric intensive care specialists, pediatric surgeons, pediatric anesthesiologists and specially trained support staff provides 24-hour care to all patients requiring intensive care.
