Since 1985, the We Remember Elvis Fan Club has donated nearly $90,000 to West Penn Burn Center. The proceeds from the Club’s annual Spring Festival are donated to The Western Pennsylvania Hospital Foundation's Elvis Aaron Presley Visiting Fellowship Fund, which supports West Penn Burn Center's Elvis Aaron Presley Visiting Fellowship program.
The Elvis Aaron Presley Visiting Fellowship program allows members of the burn care team from other nations, particularly developing countries, to visit West Penn Burn Center and experience firsthand the advanced burn techniques available.
Visiting burn care team members can include physicians, residents, registered nurses, physical and/or occupational therapists, and other professionals currently working with burn patients who are interested in learning the latest techniques in burn care treatment and rehabilitation.
Participants return to their home countries and share best practices with their colleagues. The Fellowship program is a wonderful opportunity for exchange of information among professionals to help raise the level of burn care provided here and around the globe.
During the years the Elvis Aaron Presley Visiting Fellowship Fund has existed, West Penn Burn Center has hosted fellows from Brazil, Argentina, Turkey, Israel, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Sweden, Great Britain, Jordan, Germany, China, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Brazil.
The Pittsburgh-based We Remember Elvis Fan Club has hundreds of members from countries around the world, including Poland, Germany and Australia. It is one of the largest official Elvis Presley fan clubs in the United States.
