Burn Center

The West Penn Burn Center team members are highly experienced burn care specialists; they are dedicated to improving the lives of adults and children who sustain burn injuries.  The team is capable of managing injuries ranging the spectrum from the most severe burns down to the minor burn injury.
Our nursing staff is exceptionally proud to have achieved Magnet re-designation status in September 2012 by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. This prestigious designation recognizes excellence in nursing services. West Penn Hospital was the first hospital in the region to achieve this internationally recognized distinction for quality patient care and outcomes. Today we are “two proud”.
The West Penn Burn Center is uniquely and strategically located so that all of our patients arrive directly into the Burn Center so that we can begin triage and treatment immediately upon arrival. The patients remain in the Burn Center for their entire length of stay. Follow-up care is continued in the Outpatient Clinic.
