Endocrine tumors occur in the glands of the endocrine system, which is made up of the thyroid, adrenal, pituitary and parathyroid glands. These glands produce hormones that are essential for the body’s growth, metabolism and sexual development. Tumors of the endocrine system can be benign or malignant.
