Cardiac PET
One of the most advanced molecular imaging diagnostic tools in the world, PET/CT combines the functional imaging capabilities of a PET (positron emission tomography) scan with the anatomical detail capabilities of a CT (computed tomography) scan. This provides a rapid and more accurate assessment of cardiovascular disease, while delivering lower dosages of radiation to the patient. Both scans are performed at the same time — on the same machine — to deliver superior results.
CVI has the first and only cardiac PET-CT program operating in Pittsburgh and the surrounding tri-state area. This sophisticated imaging technique can be combined with a standard pharmacological stress test to obtain accurate results about myocardial blood flow and viability.
PET/CT scans can be completed in one hour and results are available the same day.
