Forbes Hospice
Pediatric Care
Forbes Hospice and Palliative Care’s pediatric program serves the unique needs of children with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Our program is led by pediatric care experts who are recognized regionally and nationally within the Children’s Hospice and Palliative Care movement.
We have created a dedicated team approach which includes a physician, nurses, certified nursing aides, social workers, spiritual counselors and bereavement support counselors. This interdisciplinary team partners with each child’s longstanding healthcare providers by adding our special skills in palliative and hospice care. As with our other programs, we have 24 hour a day access to nursing and social services support for questions or concerns. Addressing a child’s symptoms while extending and enhancing the life of a child or adolescent as much as possible is the focus of our care. Our broad range of services ensures that a child’s physical and emotional needs will be met in their own home whenever possible.
We also know that communication and care of the family unit is crucial. Our staff supports families along this journey and assists in exploring and acquiring any services that a child or family may need during this time. Some of these services can include early intervention, homebound educational programs, Medicaid coverage, burial and funeral services, and respite care.
Pediatric care physicians and pediatric palliative care programs in our community have entrusted Forbes Hospice and Palliative Care with the care of their young clients for many years. Our staff has the expertise needed to provide loving support to these special children and their families.
