Lupus Center of Excellence
Research
The translational research program at the Lupus Center of Excellence offers a unique combination of basic laboratory research and clinical trials that focus on improving patient care as we gain knowledge about lupus and related disorders.
Our team is working to understand the cause of lupus, pinpoint the genes responsible for it, and develop a vaccine to prevent it.
Our patient-centered approach to research has been instrumental in the discovery of new tests to diagnose and monitor lupus activity, which may lead to earlier and more appropriate treatment.
The Lupus Center of Excellence is nationally-recognized as a leading research center and our efforts are supported by grants from such prestigious institutions as the National Institutes of Health, the National Arthritis Foundation, the Alliance for Lupus Research, the Lupus Foundation of America, the Pittsburgh Foundation, the American Heart Association and the American College of Rheumatology.
