West Penn Allegheny Health System provides exceptional programs for women, infants and children. Obstetrics services are available at two of our hospitals: The Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, and Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville.

Our hospitals serve as regional referral centers for high-risk pregnancies and maternal fetal medicine, and offer reputable prenatal genetic counseling services to couples.

A level III neonatal intensive care unit – the highest and most sophisticated level of care possible – is available at West Penn Hospital, and a level II neonatal intensive care unit is available at Forbes Regional Hospital.

West Penn Allegheny Health System also offers life-saving, regional neonatal air and ground transport services. Additionally, the area’s first Infant Apnea Center was created at West Penn Hospital years ago and continues to evaluate, manage and monitor babies and young children at risk for life-threatening events.

As an affiliate of the world-renowned Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine of Eastern Virginia Medical School, West Penn Allegheny Health System’s Jones Institute provides couples with an array of options, including intrauterine insemination, in vitro fertilization and a comprehensive local donor egg program.
