Psychiatry
Partial Hospitalization Program
The Intensive Psychiatric Day Treatment Program for Adults provides cost-effective mental health day treatment to patients who would otherwise require hospitalization. The program, one of the first of its kind in the region, often prevents the need for hospitalization or reduces the length of stay, allowing patients to remain in their home environments while receiving treatment. Services provided include, but are not limited to, structured group treatment, comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, and education for patients and families about psychiatric disorders and their treatment. The program is comprised of a medical director (Dale Hindmarsh, M.D., a board-certified psychiatrist), program director (Nancy Kennedy, Psy.D., licensed psychologist), psychiatric nurses, psychiatric residents and psychology interns.
The program promotes a close liaison with referral sources, involving referring clinicians during treatment when possible. The average length of stay is one calendar month, three to six hours per day of structured group treatment, with an emphasis on the patient's rapid return to functioning at home and in the community.
To make a referral or to request information, please contact the Program Director at 412.330.4062.
