Radiation Oncology
Rays of Hope
The West Penn Allegheny Cancer Institute Radiation Oncology Network is that powerful source behind the hope. Each day, we give a message of hope to the many men and women who are stricken with cancer. It is with our own rays of light that we are able to battle cancer and encourage people that they will indeed live to see another day, another year, another lifetime.
As part of the West Penn Allegheny Cancer Institute, the Department of Radiation Oncology provides patients with the most comprehensive treatment plans — from diagnosis and prognosis to treatment and follow-up care. Our seasoned physicians implement effective combinations of early detection, surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and biologic therapies in an all-encompassing effort to approach the disease from every angle.
As one of the country’s most comprehensive radiation oncology programs, AGH’s Department of Radiation Oncology is able to offer patients the most sophisticated treatments and technologies available. Along with the Allegheny Cancer Center, we have a long, reputable history as a premier oncology facility led by highly regarded clinicians in medical and radiation oncology, hematology and surgery, and the hospital consistently ranks among the nation’s best as designated by U.S. News & World Report.
Our advanced diagnostics and treatments allow us to identify tumors of any shape or size in the breast, implant radioactive seeds to eliminate prostate cancer, perform minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques to effectively remove colon cancer and distribute radiation beams to obliterate brain tumors.
But it’s not all about the innovative technology and medical findings — it’s also about human involvement, personal attention and individual treatment. Our dedicated oncology team works every day to ensure that each patient’s treatment is as much about compassion as it is about the cure. So it is with each of these very vital and unique attributes that we are able to offer our patients another day of life — another ray of hope.
