Employee Campaign Raises $61,115 from 381 Donors

Thanks to the generous Forbes’ employees who helped to raise $61,115 for this year’s Employee Campaign! That total was reached through direct donations to the campaign, raffle ticket sales, and donations raised through the fabulous “Race to the Finish”. Donors to the campaign also increased from 220 last year to 381 this year.

Forbes Health Foundation gives special thanks to Mark Taylor, MD, and Lisa Pristas, CRNA, who co-chaired the campaign and worked hard to spread the word about it and to encourage employees to consider donating to the Foundation. The campaign had 161 new donors this year, so their hard work paid off.

Thanks, too, to our wonderful committee members, who helped to plan and carry out campaign activities and to committee member Maria Synan for organizing our highly successful Race to the Finish, which generated $6,375.

Race to the Finish

New this year was a Race to the Finish, held the last week of the campaign. G&G Fitness donated stationary bikes, and 11 teams of employees pedaled away to raise money and enjoy some friendly competition. The race raised $6,375 for the new Trauma and Injury Prevention Fund.  The Honey Badgers (Anesthesia), led by Mark Taylor, MD, won the silver cup for going the furthest distance.  Pumped Up Chicks & Dan, led by Lynne Struble, won the silver cup for raising the most money.

Runners and Walkers Raise $11,700 for Forbes Heart and Vascular Center

Forbes Fitness 5K run and Fun Walk

More than 125 runners and 45 walkers came together on a sunny Sunday morning in June to walk/run the Forbes Regional Hospital Campus and adjoining property to raise awareness of heart health and raise funds for Forbes’ Heart and Vascular Center.

Sponsored by the Forbes Health Foundation, the Forbes Fitness 5K and Fun Walk drew Forbes Regional Hospital employees, their children, and community members and raised $11,700 for the Heart and Vascular Center.

Dr. Michael Culig, Medical Director of the Heart and Vascular Center and a member of the Forbes Health Foundation Board, and Forbes Health Foundation Board Member Barbara VanKirk, co-chaired and ran in the event, as did Forbes Regional Hospital President and CEO Reese Jackson and his daughter.

Fruit, snacks, and drinks were provided by Monroeville Giant Eagle, Monroeville Panera Bread, Tyler Mountain Water, and Forbes Health Foundation. A brief awards presentation followed the event.

Thanks to our generous sponsors for their support of this event. A special thanks to Ed Little, owner of Monroeville Chrysler Jeep and President of the Forbes Health Foundation Board, who drove the official pace car.
