FIVE CLASS SERIES ( 7 to 9 PM )
These classes will prepare you for either a medicated or an unmedicated birth.
Fee: $75

REFRESHER CLASS ( 7 to 9 PM )
Attend classes 2&3 only.

BREAST FEEDING CLASS

 Certified Lactation Consultants teach a two part class which cover benefits and "how-to's" of nursing, pumping and storing milk, returning to work and combining breast and bottle feeding.  A condensed 3 hour class that covers all the above except working, is available on Saturdays.
Fee: $25 per couple
Location: Allegheny General Hospital

NEWBORN CARE CLASS

In this three class series, parents can prepare to care for a newborn in the first month after birth. Topics include newborn appearance and characteristics, bathing, dressing, diapering, bottle and breast feeding, safety, immunizations and when to call the pediatrician.

SATURDAY NEWBORN CARE CLASS

In this two class series, parents can prepare to care for a newborn in the first month after birth. Topics include newborn appearance and characteristics, bathing, dressing, diapering, bottle and breast feeding, safety, immunizations and when to call the pediatrician.

BIG BROTHER/BIG SISTER CLASS

This sibling class is for children ages 3 to 6 to prepare for the birth of a new brother or sister. The class is taught using video, coloring books, discussion, and baby dolls. A tour of the nursery to see a newborn is included.
Children should not attend if they have a contagious disease.


Time: 10 am to 11:30 am
Fee: $15 per child/$25 two or more

CPR for Friends and Family
(An Infant and Child CPR Class)

Would you know what to do if your infant or child was choking, could not breathe or their heart had stopped beating?  Attend this very important class to learn how to respond in an emergency.  Plan on taking this class before your 7th month of pregnancy.

Time: 6:30 to 8:45 pm
Fee: $25 per person

Labor and Delivery Tours

Labor and Delivery tours are available at no charge. Please note that you are not automatically registered for a tour when you register for a class. The tour meets on the 12th floor (L&D floor) in the waiting room across from the elevator. The tour is approximately 45 minutes. Children are permitted to attend as long as they are not disruptive.
