Kim Bensen, who wrote about her long-term weight loss success in the book, “Finally Thin,” will speak at a women’s health awareness hosted by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Allegheny General Hospital (AGH). The program, “Feeling Good from the Inside Out,” will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, in AGH’s George J. Magovern, MD, Conference Center.
Bensen lost 212 pounds through healthy diet and exercise and has maintained this weight loss for more than five years.
In addition, the program will feature presentations on a variety of compelling subjects, including the health benefits of yoga and how to fit it into your lifestyle; successfully balancing home, work, social, community and spiritual interests; understanding how images of women are shaped in today’s media; and heart-healthy cooking, complete with interactive demonstrations. “This program is designed to provide women with guidance for developing healthier, happier lifestyles,” said Eugene Scioscia, MD, chairman, AGH Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. “These presentations and demonstrations acknowledge the obstacles women face when trying to balance work, home and social obligations. It is our hope that providing women with more information will allow them to take a proactive approach to their health and open their eyes to the options they have in regards to improving their health and quality of life.”
The program cost is $20 per person or $15 if two or more register together. A continental breakfast, refreshments and lunch will be served, and parking will be offered at a discounted rate of $4. Registration is required. Call 1-877-284-2000 and a registration brochure with additional information will be mailed to you.
