The Western Pennsylvania Hospital has a long history of research, with a particular focus on clinical research to unlock the mysteries of illness and translate innovations to superior treatments for our patients.
Centers of research at West Penn include the following:
- Western Pennsylvania Cancer Institute
- The Clinical Research Services Office facilitates patient participation in hematology (blood disorders) as well as cancer trials.
- The Tumor Registry began entering cases in 1986 and now contains information on more than 11,000 patients with follow-up information on well more than the 90% targeted by the Commission on Cancer.
