Cyclists Combating Cancer Visit West Penn Hospital Patients

September 11, 2009Who: The Western Pennsylvania Cancer Institute at West Penn Hospital, part of the West Penn Allegheny Health System, and Cyclists Combating Cancer’s “Spokes of Hope”
What: A group from Cyclists Combating Cancer, including Cindi Hart, multiple-time national cycling champion, 2007 U.S. Olympic Amateur Coach of the Year and coach of U.S. Special Olympics Cycling and Speed Skating teams, and her husband Ken Hart, an international cycling official, expert mechanic, rider and trainer, and hematological cancer patients at West Penn Hospital
Where: West Penn Hospital, Unit T-7, enter via the emergency entrance on South Millvale Avenue between Friendship and Liberty avenues.
When: Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at around 2 p.m.
Why: This group of cyclists, many of them cancer survivors, are part of the Spokes for Hope campaign, intended to raise awareness of the need for increased funding for cancer research and survivor support. The cyclists plan to finish their nationwide tour in Washington, DC, on Sept. 16.
