West Penn Allegheny Oncology Network Again Leads Cancer Survivors on 'A Healing Journey'

October 13, 2009

West Penn Allegheny Oncology Network will present the sixth annual “A Healing Journey,” a popular and inspirational half-day program for cancer survivors, on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Four Points Sheraton North in Cranberry Township.

The Healing Journey will help patients living with cancer explore new ways of coping with stress and managing symptoms as well as focus on the social and emotional aspects of cancer therapy.

Cancer survivors are welcome to bring a primary caregiver to this informative program. Complimentary breakfast, lunch and parking will be provided. The event is free, but registration is required.

“A Healing Journey” will feature a welcome by WPXI news anchor Peggy Finnegan and information on clinical trials presented by Charles E. Geyer Jr., MD, Director of the Allegheny Cancer Center at Allegheny General Hospital.

Keynote speaker is Jonna Tamases, star of the award-winning one-woman show, “Jonna’s Body, Please Hold.” This original, hilarious and uplifting show challenges despair and has built a following with performances in Los Angeles and across the United States.

Healing Journey is sponsored by West Penn Allegheny Oncology Network, provider of community-based medical oncology and hematology services for West Penn Allegheny Health System.
Seating is limited, so please register for this free program by calling 412-770-1818.
