Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum Suites

The Western Pennsylvania Hospital has 15 LDRP suites, allowing mothers to remain in one room throughout their labor, delivery and recovery experience. Postpartum rooms are available on E6 and N5. Five of these suites include Jacuzzi tubs, and all suites provide immediate access to critical care facilities for mothers and infants. Operating rooms are available within the unit for emergency cesarean sections.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

The NICU at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital is a 40-bed unit providing the highest level of medical and surgical care available to infants. The distinctive design of West Penn’s NICU features six pods, each of which houses six infant isolettes. In addition, the unit contains an isolation pod with four isolettes to care for babies with infections. The pod design is complemented by indirect lighting to create an environment that promotes the healing and growing process.
