Home Visit Program

The Western Pennsylvania Hospital Home Visit Program is a little known but much appreciated community outreach program. Any homebound person in need of medical care is eligible for the Home Visit Program. There are currently 200 individuals enrolled.

This “traveling doctor’s office” comes to the patient’s home on a quarterly basis to assess his or her condition. The home visits are conducted by West Penn physician, Dr. Monica Dua, a nurse practitioner, and an internal medicine resident. When persons enroll in the program, Dr. Dua becomes their primary care physician. The goal of the program is to help the individual remain at home for as long as possible with whatever care and supportive services he or she may need. Contributions in support of the Home Visit Program make a direct impact on the quality of life of these frail individuals.
